We start by entering all of the savings you’ve set aside for your retirement. We include 401(k)s, IRAs, Roths, Annuities, Mutual Funds, Stocks, CDs, or any other account of investment.
Next, we enter the amount of money you’re currently setting aside for retirement each month. This includes any 401(k), Roth, or IRA contributions as well as any employer profit sharing or contribution match.
Here we enter the year you’d like to have the option of not working.
Here we enter the amount of money you’d like to have the option of spending during your retirement years.
Here we enter your birth year, if you and your spouse/partner have different birth years, we enter the younger of the two.
Here we enter an age that is realistic but also longer than current actuary table averages. This gives us some room for error when planning and helps to ensure you don’t outlive your money.
Here we enter what we expect inflation to be, year-in and year-out.
Here we enter the amount of risk you want to be taking with your portfolio. This helps the software calculate the rate in which your money grows throughout time.
Once everything is entered, a timeline will populate along with a probability score. The Retirement Map tests your financial situation against thousands of imagined scenarios to calculate your probability score.
On the Retirement Map® timeline, we add Social Security benefit information in addition to any other retirement income sources (pensions, etc.) to see, in real time, how the score of your retirement plan will be affected.
